This 600 square foot guest apartment tucked under the veranda sits at pool level. It's finished in a kitschy, 1940's Hawaiian style. Ikea cabinets offer a low cost, high style solution for the kitchen. The island is made of two banks of Ikea cabinets wrapped with bamboo. The bar top is crafted from a plank of mahogany shaped like an early style surfboard. Bright yellow porcelain tile is set off by shiny black trim. The concrete floor is treated with an acid stain and finished with a penetrating sealer in a matte finish to keep wet feet from slipping.
