Opal Cliff Beach House

This is essentially a new home built on parts of the existing foundation. Designed by Architect Russell Short, the home has upstairs living space that features mahogany flooring, colored concrete countertops , and beautiful stone tile work. Extensive trim detailing give the home a formal look while the warm colors and open floor plan make you feel welcome and comfortable.

Exterior
3500 square foot luxury home with reverse floor plan, light-filled spaces and fabulous views of the Monterey Bay. Cedar shingle exterior stands up to the moisture and temperature changes of a coastal environment. All downspouts and gutters are copper, which will be allowed to patina.
Exterior
Entry porch features fiberglass columns and painted, bead board ceiling.

Breakfast Nook
Ceiling features white-washed pine boards attached to hip rafters. Built-in window seating with storage underneath. Casement windows by Pella.
Wine Bar
Viking wine cooler is tucked into a nook in the kitchen. The solid mahogany counter top creates an entertainment station/buffet. Glass front cabinet uppers and custom wine rack do double duty as storage and display areas.

Kitchen
Easy maintenance stainless steel appliances and painted custom cabinetry look great and reflect natural light. Pre-cast counter tops are infused with pigment the color of brown sugar and are enhanced by a warm-hued, porcelain tile backsplash. A custom stainless steel back plate with shelf was designed to create a seamless look between the Viking range and hood.

Great Room
Site built Douglas fir trusses. Wrought iron bracket details salvaged from false beams inside the original house. Rattan ceiling fan blades were stained to match the trusses. Sonoma Cast Stone concrete fireplace surround is flanked by mahogany topped built-ins. Gleaming mahogany floors throughout.
View into Kitchen from Great Room
Flared window well allows more light into the space. Sub-Zero refrigerator is easily accessible from kitchen or dining area. Pre-cast concrete slab tops the center island, which includes a stainless steel vegetable prep sink.

French doors open onto covered porch overlooking the back yard. Family/media room visible beyond.
Family/Media Room
Built in storage under window seat. Storage cabinet tucked into extra space.

Circular staircase of mahogany treads, simple painted white risers and balusters, topped with mahogany rail cap.

Downstairs bath
Plenty of storage in this bath with honed limestone counter top and clean white cabinetry. Electrical outlet for hairdryer is inside the cabinet.
Downstairs Hall
Vibrant colors, crisp white trim and warm mahogany flooring lead to a cozy master suite.

Master Bath viewed from bedroom. Large honed limestone tiles lend elegance and compliment the limestone slab counter top.
Master Bath Vanity
Custom cabinetry takes advantage of the 9 foot ceiling height.
