Lead Carpenter

What we’re looking for
The Lead Carpenter is responsible for:
- Develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of the plans, specifications, schedule, and budget of each assigned project
- Perform carpentry skills at the highest level to meet the company standards
- Maintain accurate timesheets with proper cost codes and assist other TCI staff with time reporting
- Assist with the production and communication, and approval of change orders including providing specifications and estimates for labor as requested
- Manage the ordering of project materials, storage, and efficiency of use
- Maintain and update the construction-related information (drawings, scope of work, change orders, job book, checklists, etc.) at the job site
- Manage the substantial completion process with the SPM. Assist in preparation and provide input for the estimating, planning, and scheduling in the Design phase as requested or directed
- Recommend to management ideas for the innovation, implementation, and improvement of construction management and quality and material standards
- Assist in developing and training qualified carpenters that consistently exceed expectations
- Manage, implement, and enforce the quality control systems and standards for the maintenance of site conditions and site organization, water protection measures, and security for each assigned project
- Manage, implement, communicate and enforce company Safety Standards for TCI staff, trade contractors, and clients
- Develop positive, strong, and lasting relationships with design staff, engineers, trade contractors, city and county building departments and inspectors, material suppliers, customers, and the public
- Review, approve, suggest changes to, and/or accept project hand-off packets (drawings, schedules, budgets, selection lists, subcontractors, etc.) for assigned projects and initiate them for production preparation
- Assist with ensuring warranty service is complete and resolution of client complaints
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of experience in residential remodeling and new construction
- 2 or more years of experience as a Lead Carpenter for residential design/build remodeling projects
- Good working knowledge of related building trades and sequencing of trades
- Extensive rough and finish carpentry skills including cut-ins, and superior knowledge of construction methods and techniques
- Ability to perform physically demanding work on a consistent basis, including lifting 60 pounds and to climb a 6-foot ladder without assistance
- Valid California State driver’s license
- Valid Social Security Number
- Pass background check without incident and pass drug testing
