Aptos, California – October 14, 2022 – Soquel Elementary School recently received a grant for materials for a garden expansion project, and the expert craftspeople at Talmadge Construction volunteered their time and expertise to build an outdoor classroom for the children.
“Thanks to Talmadge Construction we now have a fantastic learning area in the garden,” beams Megan “Ms. Mac” McElroy, a dedicated teacher at the school. “We are so appreciative of Dan Grant and Jesse Flores of the Talmadge team for helping us bring this project to fruition, and building us exactly what we needed to enhance our educational program with a beautiful new natural space.”
“Spending several days building benches and boxes for Ms. Mac and her students was truly rewarding,” smiles Dan, a master carpenter at Talmadge, and father of one of the students at Soquel Elementary. “When I heard they needed our expertise, I instantly recruited Jesse to help me expand their facilities with a natural and functional garden teaching environment.”
“I loved helping Dan make Ms. Mac’s dream come true,” adds Jesse. “Our local Soquel public schools need all the help they can get, and when we heard they were looking for carpentry and building skills, we jumped at the opportunity to create a special space for the kids and teachers to enjoy the great outdoors!”
