These homeowners were looking to create an open kitchen area to host family gatherings. The post and odd peninsula counter created an awkward floorplan. Our design solution was to remove the load bearing post and put in a laminated beam spanning the length of the room, opening up the space. An extra-large island is now the focal point of the kitchen. Additional lighting creates a bright comfortable working space.
